Our Model For International Eye Surgery

ChOSEN Eye Mission provides high-quality, free eye surgery in underserved communities through a sustainable international ophthalmology mission model. Rather than relying only on temporary surgical camps, ChOSEN develops long-term partnerships and established surgical sites where we can provide consistent, high-volume cataract and retinal surgery.

Our goal is to provide patients in developing nations with surgical care that closely reflects the quality, techniques, equipment, and safety standards used in the United States. ChOSEN equips its surgical facilities with modern ophthalmic technology and works with experienced ophthalmologists, nurses, surgical technicians, and local medical teams to deliver excellent patient care.

ChOSEN also places experienced missionary ophthalmologists at selected locations to help oversee day-to-day operations, train local physicians and staff, and strengthen long-term access to quality eye care. By working closely with local communities and government health authorities, we are able to coordinate patient screening, surgery, and post-operative care while maintaining high standards throughout the entire treatment process.

Our Approach

ChOSEN’s international eye surgery programs are built around several important principles:
1. Experienced ophthalmic surgeons
Eye surgeries are performed by qualified and experienced ophthalmologists using modern surgical techniques, high-quality supplies, and appropriate equipment.
2. Cataract and retinal surgery using first world surgical techniques, equipment and facilites
ChOSEN provides sight-restoring Phaco and MSCIS cataract surgery and retinal surgery and additional ophthalmic care.
3. Serving communities with limited access to eye care
We focus on regions where patients have little or no access to high-quality ophthalmic surgery.
4. Free surgery for patients
ChOSEN does not charge patients for the medical or surgical care provided through our mission projects.
5. Complete patient care
Our teams coordinate pre-operative evaluation, surgery, and post-operative care so patients receive appropriate care throughout the surgical process.
6. Christian compassion and spiritual support
ChOSEN serves patients through the love of Jesus Christ. Patients and their families may receive prayer, hear the Gospel, and receive pastoral follow-up when requested.

High-Quality Eye Surgery Where It Is Needed Most

Our model allows volunteer ophthalmologists to concentrate on surgery while ChOSEN coordinates the facilities, equipment, surgical supplies, patient preparation, and follow-up required for a successful mission project.
By combining experienced surgical teams, established facilities, modern technology, and long-term partnerships, ChOSEN works to provide sustainable access to sight-restoring eye surgery for patients who otherwise may never receive treatment.
